Latest AAIB Bulletin

The December bulletin brought us a present of no GA fatality reports. There was only one serious injury and that unfortunately was sustained by a bystander to a collision of an aeroplane with a wooden fence. A piece of a shattered wooden propeller struck the unlucky spectator.

My analysis of these reports is that 8 were landing accidents (including go arounds), 4 were take offs, 4 were taxying, 2 were forced landings and one was a canopy opening on getting airborne. Both forced landings were achieved without serious injury and apparently with no loss of control. A Rans S6 Coyote appears to have run out of suitable landing sites and I relished the laconic comment: “Shortly afterwards the aircraft stalled into trees and the pilot sustained a cut finger.”
