Latest AAIB Bulletin

The October 2016 bulletin contains no reports of GA fatalities but there were two reports of accidents leading to serious injuries.  We offer our sympathy to the pilots involved.  Of the accidents reported one was a heavy forced landing of a helicopter following an apparent loss of power, 3 were aeroplane forced landings, 3 were take offs and 6 were landing accidents of which one followed gear failure.  There was also a Serious Incident report of the fracture in flight of the trim servo actuator arm of the left elevator anti-balance trim tab of a Savannah VG Jabiru (1).  The pilot heard a loud 'thump' and the control column was ripped from his hand.  He reduced speed and found the pitch control to be in doubt so he made a successful precautionary landing.  Congratulations to him.
