Tip of the Month
Going flying can all too often amount to no more than sitting around a crew room or clubhouse hoping that the weather is going to improve soon. As an alternative to coffee and chat why not get in your parked aircraft and practise emergencies? For example, power pilots can do touch drills for fire and glider pilots can release their canopies and bale out (First, take a look at the BGA parachute strap warning reproduced later in this ‘Flight Safety Extra’).
What should rotary, paraglider or balloon pilots practise? Will somebody tell me?
Do Air Traffickers practise emergencies?
Airfield Fire Services seem to do little else - they must really yearn for a genuine shout.
